Humans are so grossly overweight and torpid that they have lost the ability to walk. Aboard these spaceships life is ever so easy, the new floating chairs will take you anywhere want, food is just a simple click away and magically appears on the food slot attached to your chair. Exercise?! What does that even mean? Spending all day eating burgers and drinking liquefied food from the giant Big-Gulp cups, floating around on the chair mounted video screens now that’s the “life”. Childhood obesity in America is a very serious problem, which has been overlooked for quite some time. Over the past three decades the number of children considered overweight or obese has nearly tripled. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have stated childhood obesity is the fastest growing health crisis in the United States. Americans, especially children and adolescents are getting bigger and unhealthier, with 1 out of 3 kids being considered obese or overweight. Obesity is associated with a number of serious health issues including but not limited to, increase risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, breathing problems, and trouble sleeping (AACAP 2011). If we do not change our current lifestyle this epidemic will only expand and this generation will be the first ever generation to have a shorter lifespan than their parents. They are currently focusing on empowering parents, maintaining healthy food in schools, access to healthy affordable food and increasing physical activity. Increasing parents’ understanding of nutritional needs and the important steps needed to achieve this goal during early childhood. The more the parents and caregivers, know about nutritional information, how to understand it and ensuring that the food packaging reflect the true facts of the contents will give the parent and caregivers the tools to ensure the kids are eating healthy. As expected communities with lesser financial access to healthy food have a higher chance of becoming obese. By ensuring that healthy food is realistically available for every community despise the financial situation, can help lessen the rates of obesity. Maintaining a regular physical activity along with a healthy diet plays a critical role in prevention of
