Christianity and Islam two different religions or maybe not? The two aren't as different as we thought but like everything else in this world they have similarities and differences.

Christianity is a monotheistic religion meaning they only believe in 1 god. Their holy book is the bible. We have a set of rules to live by in order to be welcomed into heaven and they are called The Ten Commandments. In the Bible it was said that God divinely revealed the Ten Commandments to Moses on Mt. Sinai and were engraved onto two tablets of stone. Their religion is based on Allah (God) and his prophet Muhammad. Islam is the second most practiced religion in the world (Christianity is the most practiced). The major religion promulgated by Allahs prophet Muhammad in Arabia in 7th century BC. The Arabic word “Islam” means “surrender” illuminating the fundamental religious idea of Islam- that the believer (called Muslims) accepts surrender to the the will of Allah. Muhammad is a descendant of Abraham and his beliefs are Abrahams prophecy. Muhammad began preaching Islam in 613 CE but was met with hostility and rejection in Mecca. Many thought it would hurt Mecca as a trading and pilgrimage center. Muhammad then left Mecca in 622 CE and began the flight to Yathrib which was soon to be renamed “Medina”. Muhammad died in 632 at age 63. After his death, Muhammads revelations were written in Arabic and collected the Qur’an, the holy book to the Muslims was seen a a sequel to the Torah and Gospels. Muslims have fundamental practices and institutions of Islam which are called the Five Pillars. During the earliest decades after the death of Allahs prophet certain basic features of the religious/ social organization of Islam were singled out to serve as anchors of the communities life and formed the Pillars of Islam. 1st Pillar: Profession of faith- You have to declare your faith at least once in your life by saying “There is no deity but God and muhammad is the messenger of God.”. And when you say it you have to mean it with all your heart. 2nd Pillar: Prayer- You have to pray 5 times a day. 3rd Pillar: Obligatory Tax- Tax so you can be wealthy religiously and to be legally pure. 4th Pillar: Fasting- eating drinking and smoking are forbidden during daytime hours in the month of Ramadan which is the 9th month of the muslim lunar calendar. 5th Pillar: Pilgrimage- at one point in your life you have to leave home and go make a new life somewhere
