Introduction Since the period of the 50’s television has had a significant impact on Australia through the influence of America. The Australian television industry started in the year 1950’s creating a strong foundation of TV and an introductory to a prospering industries change of nature throughout time. Even though television was already based in US and Britain before World War 2 occurred this brought major influences to Australia through the ownership of TV spreading popularity at the end of war all around Australia creating many struggles towards the industry in the period of 1950s and overcoming it through good and bad ways in the period of 1960. Beginning of Television In the year 1950 – 1954 the introduction of television was under the authority of the government policy.
Also, few channels were available on TV nationally. Today you can use up to hundreds channels of your own choice. From the time television changed, it changed as the world changed. The 1980’s was no exception. The historical, political, and social events impacted television during the 1980’s dramatically.
In the mid-19th Century Europe, between 1750 and 1850, consisted of instability in families, due to the transition of the industry, therefore, emerged society to adapt. This industrial era impacted the lives in society, however, it all seemed normal. Although it appeared to be normal, it examined the differences in genders and their social classes. In addition, the importance of the industrial era allowed society to experience a unique way of living. The insecurity of this industrial age ultimately led insecurity discrepancies in families.

The influence of the media on Australian society can be seen from the introduction of free to air television since its beginning in 1956. This period of change in Australian society is known as popular culture when entertainment was aimed at youths. Popular culture is defined as, “The types of entertainment that most people in society enjoy.” This was heavily linked to the easy access to the public when television was launched after World War 2. An Australian icon who brought change to the way Australians watched television was Kerry Packer, who change the beliefs and values in Australian television and way of life.

Newspapers and radio stations began to slowly sink into the overwhelming realm of television, as many people migrated to absorbing their news from televisions. The new use of televisions ascended the use of consumerism, as many commercials and advertisements enticed the viewers to buy new products. The television was able to expand and create new exposure to not only commercials, but the streaming of professional games and players escalated the revenue and popularity to unimaginable heights .
A standout amongst the most mainstream items in the 1950s was the TV. The increase of TV in the 1950s furnished every Americans with tradition and entertainment. Television is a consistent nearness in many Americans' lives. With, its quick moving, outwardly intriguing, profoundly engaging style, it orders numerous individuals' consideration for a few hours every day.(Television's Impact on American Society and Culture). By 1960, most American family units had a TV, and that year's Nixon/Kennedy wrangles about was the principal broadcast presidential civil argument.
Angus Campbell once stated, “The advent of television in the late 1940’s gave rise to the belief that a new era was opening in public communication”. 75 years later, it looks like he was spot on. Since the invention of the television in the 1940’s, stations have decided to broadcast presidential debates on live television. The 1970’s was a time for radical change. Within the radical change was feminism, sex and sexuality, and drugs. Although this may not have been part of everyone’s lives, it was there, and it was prevalent. However, in 1970’s television none of this was talked about. Even though the 1970’s was a turning point in censorship in American television, the ideas and values were still moderately the same as the previous decades.
Some said mass media were inappropriate and made youngsters addicted to daily fun. The 1010 WINS station target audiences in Metropolitan Areas. I believe so because of their advertisements and news information on those areas. They also had advertisements for adults and seniors. Advertisements on banks, Cellphone Companies, loans, the lottery, automobiles, tobacco, heath issuances, and home cares. The news anchors had relevant news, but rushing into commercials was such a distraction.
