The world's energy demand is progressively escalating. There are fears about climate change, higher costs of energy materials, dependence on foreign energy importation, and a lack of supply. All of these suspicions contribute to the discussion over what is the best way to solve the problem. In the United States, coal is said to be at the center of this debate. Positives surrounding the use of coal as an energy source range from its abundance to its future using “clean technology”. Its negatives, on the other hand, deals with its status as a pollutant, its dangerous workplace, and its availability in the future to come. Concerning the environment, a persuasive argument can be made against the use of coal energy.
