As a young child I was always fascinated with education since I was raised by parents who were not able to finish their education. At that young age the only goal I had was finishing high school and go to college. I didn’t think much of my goals until I realized that there was more than just going to going to college and getting my diploma. When I first viewed Wichita State’s campus I realized that I wanted to be part their campus by participating in clubs and joining a sorority. I wanted to make a difference in the campus by meeting new people. As I explored more of the campus I realized that in order to make a difference I needed to step outside my shell and become more independent and confident. Being a shy person who relies on others I knew that will be challenging, yet I’m not going to let my quiet personality stop me from reaching my main goal. However, each time I asked someone they either wouldn’t give me their viewpoint or their judgement was not what I wanted it to be. As time went by I realized that every time I used other people’s choices, the more I felt stressed and disappointed in myself. I knew it was because I was letting people to make my own choices for me, but I allowed it to continue because I believed that their choice was better than mine. However, as I became an adult and facing real life choices I became aware that the more I let people make my own choices the more likely my future wasn’t going to be how I pictured it. I began to follow my own philosophy of creating my own choices so I could live a better life. This philosophy has allowed me to be happier and relaxed as I am finally able to create my future the way I wanted it to
