I am the youngest child in a family of seven, and we are all proud of our Filipino ancestry. My parents sent my three brothers, my sister and I to a small private school because they felt that a strong educational background would help us all to be successful. After years of learning and studying, my siblings graduated and became engineers, and I have worked hard in high school, especially in my math classes, in order to achieve success in the same field. Though I mainly played video games on the computer, I was always amazed by the graphics of every game I played, and I wondered how these computers worked. My oldest brother gave me his old computer when I was nine; I realized I finally had what I always wanted and used it to play, and, out of curiosity, I researched the intricacies of computer engineering. As I discovered more about software programs and hardware devices from articles, forums and practical research, my interest in them increased and computers have now become one of my passions. Even though I was using computers to play games as a child, I made that play helpful to improve my work ethic instead of allowing it to hinder me most of the time. From first to sixth grade, my school had a computer teacher who was not helpful at all. The methods he used were very redundant, and the class eventually stopped listening to him. He stopped attempting to teach us what we were supposed to learn and had us watch TV documentaries instead.
