Throughout my life, I have been chosen, or been elected, to be a leader on a plethora of occasions. Most often, these occasions are for classroom assignments or sporting events. About two years ago, I was on an AAU basketball team called the Shooting Stars, and we competed in an age division that was a year ahead of our actual ages. As a player, I was not the most athletic or the best at shooting the basketball, however I was a consistent starter and captain for the team. Every Tuesday and Thursday, and after a long day of school, school-related sports, and some homework, we would have an hour and a half long practice that started later in the evening. Every practice, I would bring energy, enthusiasm, and passion in order to lead and motivate my teammates and amp up the level of intensity of which we practiced with. As a result of practicing at a very high, intense level, our team would exceed in terms of chemistry, fluidity, and cohesiveness. Those three things are the three things that win basketball games. On weekends (including most Fridays), we would play in tournaments all throughout the Houston area. As in practice, I would lead the team in games with the same unrelenting energy, enthusiasm, and passion that always hyped up my teammates and brought out the best in us. On the offensive end, I was a Power Forward, for my height and size, but I played, and loved, the role of playing the facilitator that also score that basketball. Most Power Forwards in non-professional basketball, also called the four, usually do not touch or handle the ball very often and are almost ghosts on the court; however, I was able to transcend this stereotype, and notch many assists along with a decent amount of points as a ball
