My family and friends mean the absolute world to me. They are the most important things in my life, and I would do anything for them. When I am with my friends and family all my worries go away, I feel uplifted for a little while- like all the stress from school and college has been lifted. They know me better than anyone, and frankly, better than I know myself sometimes. They know that I have always been shy and nervous meeting new people or trying new things. My first day of middle school I cried because I didn't know anyone, and my first soccer game of freshman year I couldn't eat all day because I was so nervous that I would play poorly. I liked leading group projects, whether for AP research projects or yearbook displays, and I liked leading a team, which is how I became captain of our school's first Varsity Field Hockey Team. Field Hockey has always been a club sport at my school, but the summer before my junior year, our team learned that it would be recognized as a Varsity sport, and we would receive funding and district titles. I felt as if this new beginning could be a perfect opportunity to lead our team into the start of something meaningful. I was voted a co captain, so one of my top priorities going into this school year was to be the best leader I could possibly be for my team. We were very inexperienced and lost all of our games, but at the end of games and scrimmages I tried to motivate all of the players and make them feel the pride they should feel just for being a first year team. But after suffering a very serious concussion, the doctor told me I couldn't play for the rest of the season, and I missed a lot of games and
