The knowledge acquired in schools and colleges, I believe is not an education, but the means to it. It is this belief that makes me ‘a student to the end of my days’.
Ever since childhood, I had this never ending curiosity about automobiles and aircrafts. Always wanted to know the way they were designed and developed, and dreamed that someday I would be an automotive engineer and be a part of this exciting process of automobile development. Human beings are obsessed with the idea of command and control over things and the idea of controlling a car has always been very thrilling and invigorating. Manipal University was like a different world altogether to me where students from over 52 countries study. At that point I have realized that getting admission into such a prestigious university was easier when compared to coping up and competing with the stringent academic curriculum of MIT. I have been introduced to a new way of relative grading which is much tougher when compared to my previous grading procedure. I had to finish weekly assignments and give surprise tests followed by internal assessments and end semester examination for each and every subject as part of the curriculum. Apart from the theoretical coursework MIT exposed me to one of the best automobile engineering laboratories where I practiced to dissemble and assemble each and every part of an automobile, learned to design, analyze and test different automotive components. I also learned to use basic machines used in manufacturing like lathe, CNC, milling, grinding, shaping etc. Apart from the academic curriculum I had an opportunity to hone my technical skills in automotive engineering through numerous workshops, technical clubs and technical fests in the college. I feel that this is the field which requires lot of patience, perseverance and management skills to be successful. I was greatly inspired by the knowledge shared by my mentor and Professor Dr. Ramamohan Pai and it was because of him I started inculcating research interests in this field. In this ever changing world of Engineering and Technology, where each new day sees a spate of new concepts and applications and each passing day makes them obsolete, I want to attain the highest level of education and transcend new horizons in the chosen field. The vast application potential and tremendous scope for high career in automotive engineering always fascinated me and I am keen to continue my academic pursuit in this
