Ever since the early 1940s, young men across the country have been forced to enlist in the selected services. Regardless of these men’s plans for the future, it was expected of them to lay down their lives for their country. While the military draft was intended to strengthen the American army, it also strengthened the arguments made by antiwar protestors. Why should people have to die for a cause they do not believe in? This was the question numerous American citizens were asking themselves throughout the entirety of the Vietnam War.

Visual Information Specialist Why are you interested in this opportunity? As a life-long-learner, I was heavily influenced to pursue this profession because of my experiences at many of our National Parks. As an educator and young millennial I know the importance of Social Media and Visual Media in expressing oneself and connecting with others who share similar interests and hobbies. I have used both of these forms to reach out to these audiences in order to engage them on a wide range of topics from Alexander Hamilton to Child Slavery.
Going into my first year at Wake Tech, I had no idea what to expect, I felt prepared for college-level rigor and time management, but it was a whole new world socially, and logistically from the comfort of high school that I had gotten so accustomed to. Currently, I am working toward an Associate in Fine Arts with the intent to transfer to UNC Charlotte for graphic design in the fall of 2024. The classes I have taken so far have provided a challenge, but nothing I couldn’t overcome. Of course, I had to start with general education classes, but when I got deeper into the classes specific to my degree, drawing, 2d design, and even art history, I started to really feel at home. Originally I had picked graphic design because it was something
I strive to be the most well rounded individual I can be. I feel Marquette University has the opportunities for me to achieve those aspirations. Through research and first hand encounters, such as my campus visit which left me highly impressed, I have found that this university has the ability to open many doors for me whether it is my education, faith, commitment to serve, or extracurriculars. I plan on majoring in biomedical sciences and minoring in health studies.
Having spent my childhood in South Africa I was exposed to hardships experienced by many people at an early age. Such hardships were largely of a financial nature but beyond this included deprivation of basic needs such as the need to healthcare and medication and other public services. This exposure has definitely played a pivotal role in shaping my life thus far and my ambitions for the future. I have learned in my life that many things cannot be expressed in words but only through relation of experience.
Gun control is and always will be a very disagreed issue in this country. There are those who believe that Americans should not own guns at all. They think our country would be better without them. Guns do not do the killing or injuring of the innocent bystanders.
Ever since I was little I have always kept to myself, being quiet and doing my own thing. I always have kept to myself never out there looking for help when I had a problem; I would always try to solve it myself or not even solve it at all,I was a big attention seeker when it came to a problem I had accomplished on my own; But because of the fact that I didn’t really converse or talk to others made me think that nobody cared, which in turn made me think that I needed to give up or not even try. And I continued that all the way from 4th to 8th grade. When my mom put the effort to help me by taking me after school to work on late assignments,or just repeatedly giving me the support that I needed to get work done for so-and-so or else I would fail and not pass on to the next grade;I would tell her “I’ll pass,i’m in 7th grade, they won’t hold me back”I seemed like a real stubborn pain, which
Education has the most prominent role in anybody's life in this hands-on world. Right from leading a happy life to making dreams come true, education is imperative, without this you would have a hard time discerning between what is right and wrong for you as an individual and for the society as whole. It is very much certain that a degree from an exalted university would certainly elevate your confidence levels in the society. Also making you a self-dependent being and helps you to understand the world in a different way. After a lot of research into wide range career choices and subjects, I realized a career in business is something, which engrossed me to look in, and when I did I realized that there is nothing like a business as a career choice.
Everyone can draw. It is not a distinct or noteworthy talent in my opinion, or even a talent at all. The concept can be simply defined as scraping a material onto a surface and calling the residue “art.” The ability to create “art” is not an gift that’s exclusive for only those who have a certain aptitude towards it—as anyone can undertake the activity. With the activity being so unvarnished, the idea of drawing is not overly complex either.
As a toddler, I used to read books about a monkey by the name of George. His curiosity often got him into trouble, but I find that my curiosity drives me to exciting discoveries. I am the kind of person who is as thrilled climbing a mountain as solving a difficult math equation. The inner workings of the world fascinate me, and I am constantly searching to understand it more completely. I also find great satisfaction from exploring what I can build with my own two hands.

When I applied for college back in high school, I quickly learned that majoring in theater and studying abroad are an unlikely combination, and therefore accepted that I would stay at my campus for every semester. While I logistically understood how crucial this decision was for my personal education, I continuously thought about studying abroad.. I developed a growing fascination with Europe which festers inside of my mind everyday, waiting for a chance to explore something beyond the confinement of my college town environment. Part of this desire to get out comes from my lack of travelling experiences, as I have never left the United States. Growing up, my father continuously proposed the idea of us going backpacking through Europe after
My salient career goal is to become a successful independent computer engineer, as women are a minority in the engineering field. In order to achieve that goal I have kept smaller goals that will build up. These are to graduate with a 4.0 GPA from the University of Houston and to gain as much experience and skills during this journey. I feel confident enough to say that as long as I remain dedicated I will definitely reach my goals. I will be writing about the goal I’m focusing on now, that is to graduate with a 4.0 GPA and how I plan on making the best out of this experience.
