According to the K12 programs store on online courses the average high school level course was around $425 for a semester. This means that if students wanted to continue into accelerated classes that aren’t being taught as a result of this Common Core Strategy, and if they were still allowed to move ahead but without district support, they would have to pay a large amount of money to do so. So many low-income students who could move up due to intelligence and desire wouldn’t be able to. The suggestion to keep this idea, of advanced courses, out of all students’ heads helps allow all the students to be seen as equal.

Courses that can be done through concurrent enrollment cost much less or may be free depending on the state than taking a similar or the same course in college.
In addition to getting course credit for participating in the dual enrollment and accelerated courses most colleges require three years of high school math with the more competitive colleges preferring four years of math. Being on an accelerated math course means that a prospective student would stand out more in the application process as their math knowledge would be higher than the average students. Theoretically, these students would be more likely to receive an invitation to a college than students who have done the minimum.
Starting advanced math courses in middle school eases the burden for senior high school students in their course work. Having the ability to take higher math classes earlier in a high school career allows student to take some AP courses earlier and can help balance out the overall AP test load. Senior year would then have students who have already completed an AP math course taking one less test than those who would be on the Standard track and complete an AP math course their senior
