Community Policing
Counter-terrorism(surveillance, detention, racial-profiling, raids) has been implemented by many law enforcement at all levels.There has been a shift of police strategy from community policing of the late 20th century for homeland security in the 21st century(Chappell 2009). Community policing is a police innovation that got national funding in 1994 by the Clinton Administration but funding decreased after 9-11. This form of policing was meant to support communities by allowing them to be actively involved in decision making. Muslim Americans express very little support for Terrorism(Pew Research Center, 2006) but many people label all Muslims being terrorists. Some Muslims feel alienated from American society which makes them easier targets for radical organizations(Bizina, M., Northfield, V. T., & Gray, D. H. 2014). This relation Muslims have to terrorism may come from cultural relations from Islam and countries like Pakistan, Somalia, and Afghanistan, which many of the terrorist groups come from and Saudi Arabia(Hegghammer, T.
