Brown and Dartmouth are both ivy league schools with spectacular reputations. An ivy league school is the dream for thousands of students and their parents in the twenty first century. The term “Ivy League” has connotations of academic excellence, selectivity in admissions, and social elitism. For hundreds of years parents have sent their children to ivy league schools for: a higher education, academic excellence, and social status. Brown and Dartmouth are both known for their excellent academic programs however they do have many similarities and differences within their educational environments. Ivy league colleges have upheld a reputation of hosting some of the most elite students from around the world. Brown University has been attended by some of societies most well known, such as, John F. Kennedy Jr., Ted Turner, John D. Rockefeller, Meredith Whitney, and André Leon Talley. All eight of these colleges are located on the East Coast of the United States. Brown University and Dartmouth College both hold an ivy league status. Brown University sits on 146 acres in Providence, Rhode Island. Dartmouth College is slightly further north of Brown, located in Hanover, New Hampshire. Dartmouth College sits on a much larger plot of land, which is estimated to be around 4,500 acres. Brown and Dartmouth both have museums attached on their properties to show the history of the schools and how they were named. Both Brown and Dartmouth take pride is educating prospective students and their parents on how the schools came around and what each school has to offer that will make them the best fit for a student. Brown and Dartmouth host thousands of perspective students each year and hope to display their academic excellence, beautiful campus, and elite level of education
