In both Blade Runner by Riley Scott and Frankenstein by Mary Shelly, Shelly and Scott explore the topic of human made creation. Another word used to describe this phenomena is Artificial Intelligence (AI), which is basically something that humans have been striving to create which emulate human behavior, thoughts, and activity. AI, like other new forms of technology, is meant to make life easier for humans. For instance, once a computer gets to know its user, the computer will suggest certain things on search engines like Google. Technology, including AI, can also help store information, monitor trends, and even interact in such a way that it can make a positive impact on a hospital patient with a certain illness. Victor’s monster brings up many understandable and valid points. First, he says “tell me why I should pity man more than he pities me?” (102) In other words, why should a product of man be better than man himself? Just as a human cannot be superior to a god, AI and other creations of man cannot be expected to be superior to man. And yet, there is much that indicates this may actually be the case. Victor’s creation desires the feeling of mutual love, and not just unrequited love. Eventually, it is time to stop being passive and actually becoming involved in an active, mutually beneficial relationship. How terrible would it be for somebody to grow up, and still only have crushes on people, but never actually have a boyfriend or girlfriend? Here, we see that Victor’s creation is portraying himself as more than generous, more than reasonable, and even if what the creation says is not true, it is still worth at least …show more content…
Why should any being be worse off than the very representation of evil himself (according to certain religions)? This would be enough to get anyone paying close attention to lose hope in things, including justice, meaning, and self worth. What Victor’s creation is suggesting here is that being a loner to the whole world, maybe even the whole universe, is the worst fate possible for anybody. The most important thing for human beings is to be in loving relationships. It is a classical way to both give and take. Parents raise their children in the hopes that their children may give back to them when they hit old age, or at least they can also be parental figures in the future. Without being accepted by anybody else in the world, one is only living for his or her own self, and that can only get one so far. The more people that love someone, the more important he or she is. Whereas if the quiet kid in the back were to suddenly drop dead, most of his or her classmates would hardly bat an
