After viewing the movie Glengarry Glen Ross (1992), I thought that it was very similar to the play. I felt that the characters in the film were just like the ones in the book. Though it was the same as far as plot and characters, I felt that the movie didn’t represent postmodernism as well as the book did. Since the play was fairly short I knew that the movie would have to expand add more information in.

From anyone related to the rodeo industry or even just going through the motions of life, when it comes down to your “ride” it could mean life or death. For Luke in The Longest Ride, it meant exactly this. In this novel, it clearly relates to the title. Within rodeo as a whole, the sport is very dangerous whether you are a bull rider, barrel racer or roper.

The three movies – Platoon, Full Metal Jacket, and The Green Berets – are all movies based on the same historical event – the Vietnam war and US’s involvement in it. Yet, they all presented us with different and narrative point of view and authority figures in order to paint their individual values. The movies’ most obvious differences lie within the choice of their narrative point of view. The Green Beret, the earliest one, was directed by John Wayne and he also starred in the leading role. Wayne’s authority and influence in the 1960s was similar to the influence of Tom Hanks in the 21st Century.
Stuart Rosenberg’s 1967 film, Cool Hand Luke follows the story of Luke Jackson, a non-conformist, veteran with blatant disregard for authority while serving time in a Southern, rural prison. The opening scene of this film features a brief incident of Luke “beheading” parking meters while intoxicated. As he destroys public property, the ‘Violation’ warning flashes, foreshadowing his inevitable arrest. When the police arrive to arrest Luke for the minor public disturbance, he is asked for his motive behind the rebellious act. With no sign of remorse, he grins and replies, “you could say I was settling an old score” (1967), allowing for the assumption that he has had a pre-existing resistance to authority.

The time span of the film is from the 1920’s to the 1980’s, although most of the political and cultural issues are prevalent in the flashbacks (1920’s-1960’s). During the time period of the flashbacks there are serious racial issues, acts of horizontal violence towards African Americans by the Ku Klux Klan, as well as marital abuse issues between Ruth Bennet and her husband Frank Bennet. Marital issues are also present in the present-time segments of the film between Evelyn and her husband, Ed.
The documentary, Merchants of cool, describes an evolving relationship between the vast teenage population and corporate America. The film provides an in-depth look at the marketing strategies and communication between these groups. Adolescents are shown as learners and adapters of the fast-paced world; they’re constantly exposed to fashions and trends. These young adults have a lot of disposable income and are willing to spend it, in order to gain social popularity. In other words, they are chasing ‘cool’.

Game developer DICE specifically created the Star Wars: Battlefront trailer for the PS4 platform for fans who are hungry for “Star Wars” stuff and are waiting for the actual game to be released. The said trailer is less of a gameplay and more of a live action sequence or a tribute to fans, according to Realty Today.

This causes his face to be irregular and look different compared to others. Auggie is starting his first day of school after being home school by his mother. As Auggie walked in the school, people were walking away and avoiding being near him.
In the film 12 Years a Slave the editor, Joe Walker, makes use of a couple of techniques and styles that adds to the film in its own way. Long shots – Joe kept the long shots as long as he thought was necessary to add to the subject matter and the feeling he wanted to bind with the story. At the end of the film there’s this extremely long shot where Solomon is practically staring at the camera for about a minute and a half. The timing of that shot is so perfect because it’s not too short so you don’t have enough time to think about what just happened or too much time to overthink the situation. Closer to the end of the shot he lets the sound fade slowly and rapidly gives you a wakeup call when the next shot starts off where Solomon and the rest of the slaves are busy working in the field.

Trevor Eckermann Period 2 6/3/15 Spring Film Review Mark Herman’s “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas” produced by David Heyman, portrays an 8 year old boy during the world-war II time period, who leaves Berlin to live close to a concentration camp because his father had recently become a German officer. He lived a gloomy and unhappy life after leaving Berlin. The film gives a point of view from both the boy’s life and the parents’ life.
Second part : The Subprimes Winners Anytime something bad happens, it does not take long before blame starts to be assigned… Nonetheless the beneficiaries that exploited the chaos to their advantage were not the guilty ones, and they could not have stopped this crisis of happening, there was no possible way of stopping this stock bleeding… for the most part “those winners” were not stock exchange experts, they just benefited voluntarily or involuntarily from it, some of them,in a political way, others in an economical way. Contrary to what we could think, only a small part managed to win by influencing and taking huge risks… they were brokers, traders and were known as the crisis opportunists.
