I started this course with the expectation of gaining important skills and abilities to help me through not just my everyday life but my career as well. I gained those skills as well as sharpening ones that I already had. The skills that I improved during this course is the ability to think critically and think with more of an open mind. Philosophy forced me to think outside of my normal thought process and take an objective angle when it comes to analyzing a situation. I like to think that skills are like muscles; the more you work on them, the stronger they will get. I think of this course as a bench press; it pushed me to really "beef" up my skill muscles because it took me out of my comfort zone. I am used to courses telling me what I should think, do or say instead of allowing me to process things in a different way.

It widened my perspective and allowed me to take on different, new ways of thinking. It's important to not stick to just my opinion anymore. There may be a better way and sometimes my thoughts are wrong. Thinking can be heavily influenced by things such as media, culture, and our society so our ability to think critically is sometimes limited. This course opened my mind to creative ways and gives the world a multidimensional view. When I began this course, I did not think I would like it this much. What I liked least about this course at first is that I wanted a clear-cut answer to the problems of the universe. I was so used to being told what and how I should think, instead of putting my mind to use while gaining my own ideas and thought processes. I do wish I could have learned more in-depth information about the philosophers themselves, but I understand that this course is only for a short period of time. I am inspired to continue my philosophical journey throughout my nursing journey because I believe that it is a helpful tool to
