Cyberbullying and the steps I am required to take Cyberbullying is a big issue in todays age with all the access to technology. Almost everyone you see adults and students have some type of social media page on either Facebook or Twitter or even both.
Even though cyberbullying has become an epidemic in the United States, all adults must understand that bullying does not have to be a normal part of childhood. We have to stop this type of harassment because it damages and hurts young people in many ways. There should be federal laws against Cyberbullying, because cyberbullying has fatal consequences. In this essay, I will address why is it important to stop cyberbullying and how cyberbullying has personally affected teens.
The internet is such a powerful source for all users of it; with great power comes great responsibility. Cyberbullying is a negative form of internet usage and should never be taken lightly. The topic of cyberbullying is debated in various viewpoints in Source 1, “Cyberbullying Prevention Act (HR 6123)”, and Source 2 In source 1, Meier list some example as to why cyber bullying can be considered negative; it supports why cyberbullying should be part of the criminal code. Cyberbullying can only be done electronically which requires internet access. In section 1, Meier reveals to the reader, “Four out of five of United States children aged 2 to 17 live in a home where either they or their parents access the internet” (lines 6-7).
In this generation, to be on social media is expected among teenagers. Despite a teenage girl not wanting to create an Instagram account, she is considered “uncool” if she does not have one. Perhaps a simple solution to the growing danger of cyber bullying is the encourage selective participation, and create a tolerance for children who do not wish to be apart of the online world, instead of immediately attempting to change their minds. Through the use of selective participation, the amount of people online will dramatically decrease. In a survey taken in 2006 “nearly one in three teens admitted to being the victim of cyberbullying” yet the child can choose to remove themself from the situation (“The Dangers of Cyberbullying” 1).
One common cyber world thug is the cyberbully. An ethical question that results from the widespread and popular use of Social Networking Services (SNSs) is “How do we mitigate the threat of cyber-bullying and still enable people’s ability to connect to one another?”

Cyber Bullying and Respect I. Introduction Just like any social interaction, there are ways to use the internet for good, and ways to use it for ill. The internet has opened up new horizons for people to explore, and new places for people to gather and engage with each other. It's easy sometimes to think that we are different people when we are online, and that we can behave in different ways than we would in the real world. Young people across the globe particularly in many modernized society are confronted with a new challenge, one that many parents, educators and policy makers often have great difficulty to understand.
