There have been many theories and techniques that have helped me learn what I want to integrate into my own Daisy theory. Throughout the semester, I have learned so much about theories that I have only been to learn about in a surface level. Now I know so much about different techniques in a deeper level where I was able to see how it can be applied in a group. All these theories also taught me it is very possible to use bits and pieces of all these therapies and make them into your own. The therapies that have really made an impact on me are rational emotive behavioral therapy, cognitive behavior, solution based, personal centered, gestalt, and reality theory. One theory that has helped me in my own personal life is rational emotive behavioral therapy. One concept in rational emotive behavioral therapy is teaching coping self-statements. It has so many concepts that can really have a group work on themselves. The role of the group members would be to be honest with themselves and the group counselor. This therapy has a lot of work that needs to be done with homework. I know from personal experience how hard it is to keep up with homework so group members will really have to keep themselves accountable to see the change. A benefit from this therapy is that the group members will keep each other accountable and be supportive of each other. The goal for this group process would be, to be able to challenge their own negative self-talk and see what the change is in the individual self-esteem is. It is essential for the group to see their progress from the beginning of the group to the end and see how their way of thinking has changed.
