Happiness Once upon a time there was a young couple that met and fell in love. They decided to get married and agreed on a fairy tale wedding in the park. They spared no expense and hosted a grand party afterward in an exquisite hotel. They began their fairy tale life with a five bedroom home, two cars, motorcycles and lots of credit cards. Money and finances were the least of their worries as they built up a lifestyle of luxury. As time went on children came to their family and the expenses continued to rise. One day they realized that they were slaves to their debt and that material things were not making them happy. They decided to create their own happiness rather than buying their happiness. Happiness as defined in the dictionary is pleasure, contentment or joy. These are things that are abstract and can not be bought with any amount of money. When our debts are paid and there is food in the pantry, we can feel peace. We then can enjoy time with our family, and build a sense of security that all is taken care of physically. Money is a necessity for our survival on this earth. All people have basic needs of food, clothing and shelter. For this purpose money is not all bad. On the other hand, wise use of money plays a crucial role in sustaining our views and sense of happiness. Money is not evil. In 1 Timothy 6:10 it reads: “For the love of money is the root of all evil…” The problem with money is how people choose to use it. Many people in the world have great wealth and use their money to help make the world a better place. Orphanages are sponsored by people with wealth who have chosen to use it wisely.
