As Frankl reveals, love is more than an intense feeling or physical attraction. It is crucial for people to understand the difference between love and infatuation because a relationship built on infatuation will not last, let alone give someone the purpose of overcoming difficult situations. Frankl claims that “the salvation of man is through love and in love,” the love that connects two together, even when they are apart (Frankl, 2006, p. 37). Love that creates meaning for one’s life and brings the best out of them. The love that pushes one to survive or do their best even when the odds are against them. Realistically, if people take the time to look at their relationship from an external perspective, they can quickly determine if their relationship is based on infatuation or genuine love. From there, they can decide if just the thought of their “love” would be enough to give them the perseverance to fight through a life or death situation.
