What is something everyone wants but cannot hold? The answer to the question is success. It is everywhere in everyone’s lives. It lurks in each person’s shadow. It is a prominent idea that everyone reaches out for but very few catch it. What if a person did not have to chase success because he or she already had it within their selves? According to Merriam-Webster, success is defined as "the attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence." So if wealth doesn’t necessarily translate into success, what does? That’s something very individual. For different people, success means different things. For some it may mean amassing a lot of money, for others it means doing what you love, or leaving the world a better place. There are countless ways to define success. It all depends on the individual.
One of the greatest things a person has is individuality. Every person has the opportunity to formulate his or her own ideas and views. Each idea or view none more correct than the one before. If an individual was to define the word success in their own words it could be different then what another person would say. Just because a person works a minimum wage job does not mean he or she is not successful. That could be the dream job that he or she loves to work no matter the pay. That job makes the person happy, which in return makes that person successful in their mind. In addition, making an impact could be seen as being successful. If someone changed the world, or even just a single human being’s life, for the better he or she may view that as the most successful thing a person can do.
