There is always a need for improvement of parental and community involvement to support diversity and the students of the school. The purpose of this assignment was to analyze the planning processes and how to improve these issues. The overall objective is to create a safe and warm culture among staff and parents, while inviting the community to be a part of the process. It also takes raising money to improve the support of parents and encourage diversity within school. The stakeholders that are involved include one assistant principal, two parents and a school based group. Manatee Elementary is a lower socio-economic school in relation to other schools. This includes a focus on 1. Culture and Background knowledge 2. Community involvement that can focus on strengths and weakness of the environment of families. When these focus groups are in tuned to the opportunities that are created it can help create a process that will benefit the decisions made for the students and school. This information can be used to make solutions to possible issues that may arise, create plans and events that help involvement, and build background knowledge to fill achievement gaps for immigrants. This begins with what resources are available to the focus group to make sure an effective plan is created. Downfalls include resources for funding, laws of education, and the demographics of the communities. Programs that can be created that are beneficial to parents to help their child. The events that would be interesting for parents to attend with their children at school and what can be effective. Weaknesses include too many opinions that procedures can be confusing to create, not enough parental support in the focus group, parents working full time with not enough time to be involved.
Administration focused group to support and encourage diversity within the school and outside environment include strengths that are effective to approving programs that are able to be funded and follow procedures set by the District. Administrators can support teachers and help provide learning opportunities, and help organize and approve ideas that are created to increase involvement. Weaknesses include Individuals not accepting new ideas and mostly not enough time for working parents to attend meetings or be involved in
