President Trump’s Inaugural Address, addressed little to no ideas about policy issues. The majority of his speech attempted to rally Americans into banding together to become one people; His speech can be summarized by his campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.” Trump’s Administration wants every trade deal and decision to be made in America’s best interest, they will not entertain anything less. Policy Trump does reference in his speech: bringing back jobs and growth.

Donald Trump claims that for many years The United States has entertained partnerships and trade deals that have thrived at the expense of our own industry (Trump, 2017). America was up until recently, a part of the Trans-Pacific Partnership. However, Donald Trump did not think this partnership beneficial to American Workers, so he withdrew The United States from the partnership during his first days in office (Board, 2017). A bold move on President Trump’s part, proving that he is not all bark and no bite. This is different from many past Presidents who choose to start their presidency on less controversial terms. His unorthodox methods bring vast numbers of Americans great pause, however picking jobs and the economy to focus on as one of his first issues is as one reporter states, “good” (Board, 2017). Yet, people are scared that his “forceful form of attack” will lose The United States opportunities and ruin American wealth. Cutting America off from foreign enterprises would only cheapen our competitive edge (Board, 2017). On another note, Trump’s stance on immigration will not increase job growth at all. Immigrants are not taking away our jobs, but adding to our workforce. President Trump cannot grow the economy significantly without a larger number of people entering the workforce. That is where immigrants come into play (Jones, 2017).
I think Donald Trump will be an active President, he will make change on issues like job growth. He has ideas laid out on how to grow our economy and increase jobs, which I think is good. He wants to start with a pro-growth tax reform and reduce The United States Corporate Tax Rate (The White House, 2017). I think this is a smart idea to try and implement, because America has one of the highest Corporate Tax Rates in the world. Donald Trump has spent most of his life as a business man, and has many very successful businesses. As a result, creating jobs should be a skillset he has great knowledge
