The most important endeavor a person can undertake is to contribute to the lives of others. As we encourage and console, we contribute to human success. Without nourishing positive human interaction, we stunt the ability of others to give to the world, thereby disadvantaging our global society. Thus, it is important to me to search for ways to develop my intrapersonal skills so that I might serve others, prevent or soothe distress, and potentially save a life. My life has prepared me well for a future in helping others. Throughout my time in the class, I learned various strategies, most notably PBIS, to help the children become more successful in the school environment and at their homes as well. Learning to expand children’s intellectual and social skills in a way that is gentle, kind, yet impactful and empowering is a skill I often practice and constantly search for ways to improve on. Currently, I have a position as an assistant teacher for before-school care at a primary school. In this job, I work with children from the ages of 3 to 11. Having this job has given me an opportunity to develop professional workplace skills, but more valuable to me, I have learned how important positivity is to a person’s mentality. Throughout my final year of schooling, I have chosen to conduct a 300 hour long project to thoroughly prepare myself for college and living internationally, including topics such as (enter traditional subjects here). I wish for happiness and inner peace more than anything else, and this has sparked a curiosity to learn about the brain and happiness, not only to improve my life but the lives of everyone surrounding me as well. I attempt to live my life being mindful and considerate of others: what they’re thinking, what they’re going through, why they behave the way they do, and overall how they function. I believe this is an effective way to improve my ability to empathize with others and be an overall kinder human being. I have an aspiration to assist others and help them become able to understand themselves in order for them to live a happier life. There is no better feeling to me than the feeling I get after I know I’ve helped someone. Because of this, I am sure working with people who have their own struggles and challenges is what I want to do with my future. I look forward to forming close bonds with others and gaining a mutual feeling of respect, trust, and success.
