Educators take time in planning their lessons in which they want their students to remember the knowledge and the lessons that they taught them. Many educators also struggle with trying to cover all of the standards within the curriculum without making them connect to the outside world such as creativity through art projects, speeches, and poems.
Standard #6: Assessment:
An assessment shows the progress of a student’s knowledge within a particular topic. Assessments are not always considered exams. The wrong introduction of testing can cause the child to suffer from testing anxiety. At such a young age, students may perceive that one bad test grade can “ruin their life”. Early Childhood educators should assess through formats such as formative and summative assessments. Formative assessments can occur during the beginning and middle of the unit. When introducing the topic you can ask simple questions such as what does this mean and how do we accomplish this and so on. You can also give them a pre-assessment which you can say does not

A teacher’s job is to track the emotional and academic growth of their students throughout the year. After examinations, teachers should know where their students are at in an academic perspective such as below average, average, and mastery. Besides self evaluation teachers should seek outside assistance for their students such as other faculty members and or professionals that can help to enhance the student’s development. Teachers should contact parents, guidance counselors, speech teachers, and or resource teachers to gain guidance in which they will know what makes that particular student comfortable or uncomfortable.
