Edgar Allen Poe was a mysterious man that exemplified in gothic horror on his short stories and poems. He is best known for his use of dark, eerie, and emotionally haunted characters and elements of the supernatural in American Literature. I think Edgar Allan Poe is a great horror writer. I believe this because of his poems, “The Tale-Tell Heart”, “The Raven” and many others that have good writing that captures the reader’s attention and fear. For example in the “Tale-Tell Heart” this line “True!-nervous-very, very dreadfully nervous I had been and am! ,” is one that makes some readers scared or send chills up their spines. I probably would read more of Poe’s work because he is a great writer that gives readers a great clear image of the events in his stories.
