“Lord, please help my poor soul” were the last words of an amazing man. But I will introduce him first; His name is Edgar Allan Poe. He was born on January 19, 1809 in Boston Massachusetts. Edgar was an amazing since he was of the age 13, but was discouraged by his headmaster and his father. Edgar was a depressed man, if he wasn’t, his life was.

Edgar was influenced by be discouraged, sounds weird but let this explain. When someone tells you can’t do something, you want to prove to them that you can do it. Edgar was told he shouldn’t become a writer but instead follow in the family business. Writing also gave him humanity, it gave him something to be passionate about. He would sometimes write on the back of Allan’s business papers. According to some Poe was a prolific poet, but his literary talents were “discouraged by his mother”(Bio. ). Both of his parents were in the acting business. His father left the family and his mother died when he was only three. When he was still young, money was an issue. When Edgar was in Boston, he published his first book. His parents also never really cared about Edgar. (Burlingame,23) (Bio. )

A few of the books Edgar published were “the tell tale heart, the fall of the house of usher , ligeia, william wilson.” When he had to deal with stress, he drank alcohol. So when he wrote, it was often scary or depressing story. He was the best poet in all of england, his stories were heard from miles and miles away.
