Education improvement in the United States
The national education budget of education in the United States of America is around $1 trillion. This amount of money shows, that the U.S. cares about education, and wants to spend a lot of money on improving its citizens. However, according to an international ranking of 15-year-old students from OECD countries from 2012, the U.S. education system is mediocre compared to the rest of the world. The U.S. scored below average in math and ranked 17th among the 34 OECD countries. Furthermore, it ranked 21st in science and 17th in reading. However, what is the overall importance of education, and can charter schools help improve the general level of American education?

The charter schools are offering students an opportunity to study and work with other students that are equally dedicated to their education. “Raunder is one of 7 noble charter schools in Chicago. The graduation rate is 95% (...). At the two public high schools in the same neighborhood, graduation rates are 50% and 67%.” (Video 5, 00:18 – 00:41) The quote from CBS news shows that the students who attend charter schools will have a much higher chance of graduating. This might be a result of the charter schools being able to meet the individual needs of the students.
The charter schools might be able to improve the general level of American education because of their innovative way of teaching their students. “And unfortunately in the traditional system we see too frequently this kind of comprehensive high school where every student is expected to experience the same education, and one size doesn’t fit all.” (Video 6, 03:15-03:24) This quote shows why the charter schools can help improve the general level of American education. These schools offer innovative ways of teaching students in a way where they achieve the maximum amount of knowledge from their classes. They do so by accepting that not every student is similar to everyone else, and then trying to meet the individual needs of the
