Rachel Hagebush EDUC 417 Michael Lesch December 1, 2015 Philosophy of Education I feel that education is a unique experience for every person. Each student and teacher possess different qualities that contributes to the classroom, community and the world as a whole. In order for students to learn, teachers need to understand that each student is different they have their own thoughts, beliefs, and learning styles. Teachers need to be creative to engage students and teach in a way that works with their individual learning style.
This includes to welcome every families, and to value each of them equally, for children and families to have the sense of belonging to the community (Cologon, 2014; Garrity, 2016). To build a positive relationship with family, educator need to always be proactive to learn about the families, to understand the abilities and the needs of the child, and adjust the environment and program that allow every children and/or family have the same opportunities to participants (Cologon, 2014; Garrity,
Students want and need structure; but, as adults we also need to prove our students with secure, caring, and stimulating environments. As an educator, it is my mission to help students in meeting their goals, while providing them an atmosphere conducive to
As an educator, I have a responsibility to influence young people positively. It is my job to prepare students
The myth of a doppelgänger is prominent in both Frankenstein and The Picture of Dorian Gray being seen in gothic literature across time. The phenomenon of being in two places at once goes against the natural order, and thus we see how hubris is linked to the idea of a doppelgänger in the defiance of God leading to death. A doppelgänger is viewed as an omen. Seeing one’s own doppelgänger is an indication of imminent death.
My Philosophy Statement on Adult Education Adult Education is key to a lot of successful individuals in the world. There are many individuals that go to college in order to get in a career. Education is important, because it allows students to grow into professional individuals for the workforce. When I am at my internship at Morgan State University I realized how impactful it is to help students. The reason why I wanted to study Adult Education was to help individuals become leaders of the world, since I was once was an undergraduate college student.
I anticipate the school I work in to be an engaging school for families while also providing extracurricular opportunities to meet the needs of the
My philosophy is that young children learn best when given the right tools and resources to stimulate their minds in an environment that promotes and implements Developmentally Appropriate Practices. When families are confident with their decision in choosing what environment their child’s education takes place when giving the opportunity and invitation they will participate to a capacity in their child’s education process. Studies have shown that parents that are highly involved in their child’s education process are more likely to be confident and succeed; furthermore I firmly believe that parents should be incorporated into their child’s education and learning experience. I believe the role of parents and family in children education is
As a future educator, I am most passionate about creating a safe environment for my students by incorporating culturally responsive practices and social justice into my classroom. As a woman who struggled with anxiety throughout my childhood, I understand the value of inclusion, respect, and equity in teaching. It is imperative to offer students with a safe haven during their formative years in which they are free to make their own opinions and formulate their own unique personality based on their life experiences. In America, we are fortunately surrounded by many different types of people and in the face of such diversity, unite together to form one nation. In light of the divisiveness of our country, it is incredibly important that student's
My lifetime goal is to be an elementary teacher so that I can leave an important impact on our nation’s future. In my opinion teachers do more than just teach, and their impact goes beyond the classroom and have an important impact on what they grow up to be. My teachers from my adolescent days served as role models for my future and I want to have that same effect on the students that I teach in the future. I grew up with ADHD. My parent’s believed that medicating me wasn’t my best option so I had work hard for everything that I have earned.
The knowledge gained through my undergraduate degree in Childhood Studies; has equipped me with a solid foundation in the psychological, sociological and educational development of children. Through the course I learnt how to become an inclusive, versatile and well-rounded educator. As a result I was able to gain a 2:1 degree, which I hope will further demonstrate my academic ability to study at this level.
“I wanted to make a difference”. This thought of mine is the simple reason that I became a teacher. Though there are a lot of fields where I could choose, I knew teaching is the best field in which I can have a great impact. Teaching is a profession which requires compassion, patience, enthusiasm and understanding. I am currently working with ESL learners of age 12-15.
Imagine yourself in kindergarten. The teachers, surroundings, and curriculum are a foreign territory. You’re nervous and fearful of the unknown. Will I make friends? Will the teacher be nice?
I am pursing a degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. I am passionate about education and excited to share the joy of learning with students. The perspective of wonder and sense of excitement that children bring into education motivates me daily. Teaching can leave a lasting impression in a child’s life and offers a special opportunity to shape the bright young minds of future generations. While many professions can be impactful, I believe the qualities of the person in the career position to be the most influential.
Teaching philosophy is described by Sadker and Sadker as, “Behind every school and every teacher is a set of related beliefs - a philosophy of education – that influences what and how students are taught. A philosophy of education represents answers to questions about the purpose of schooling, a teacher’s role and what should be taught and by what methods.” (Teacher, Schools and Society. 2005). With this definition in consideration, my teaching philosophy is “I believe that children learn best when they are given the chance to choose, discuss and explore what they want to learn, when they want to learn and how they want to learn.
