I never envisioned myself in a professional role that involved me working behind a desk or in an office without constant interactions with others in some capacity. I always saw myself having a career that involved interacting with children and witnessing their eyes light up or that "aha" moment when they learn new concepts. For a while, I was still deciding what career would be the best fit for me, but now I know that seeking to be a teacher is the best fit for me. A career as a teacher is meaningful and will allow me to work directly with children daily. In the role, I will teach them educational and behavioral skills while also being able to provide them with the necessary resources to witness their growth. An educator should be nurturing while also exhibiting organizational and communication skills. Since I was eleven, I have been known to be very nurturing, especially being the eldest of three children. When given the opportunity, I would ask to engage in various actions that allowed me to provide for my brothers' needs and foster their growth. Being a nurturing person and an educator go hand in hand. As a nurturing person, a teacher should boost a child's confidence, build on their strengths, and support them through challenges. A teacher should teach all students to show them the value of a good and positive work ethic or determination. In other words, a teacher who is nurturing to students allows them to see the importance and love of learning. Effective listening, reading, speaking, and writing are essential throughout life and in educational settings. As an educator, you must communicate daily with students, parents, and other school staff. The interactions can range from engaging in salutations to much more involvement and collaboration to promote a positive working environment. Establishing a good rapport with various individuals you would interact with constantly or daily is crucial. An effective teacher should be involved in the educational process and encourage parents to be involved. Parents interested in their child's school can further help foster good behavior and learning outside the classroom. Teachers should speak clearly, concisely, and tactfully to avoid misunderstanding among students in the school. Communicating with students, parents, and colleagues helps maintain an understanding, safe, and respectful working environment.
