Such as war, people, poverty, and even themselves. Both Machiavelli in “The qualities of the prince” talks about on how a prince is supposed to be a leader and that good leaders must learn not to be convenient or compassionate to keep stability. Lao Tzu in “Thoughts from the Tao-te Ching” believes in having a silent leader so the people will do what he wants them to do and fill like they are not being guided.
What Makes an Effective Leader? There are leaders all around you and you probably did not even know it. A leader is a person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country. This could be parents, teachers, or the president of a country.
An effective leader is motivated and effective organizational leader, it can encourage employees and their change for the better Hot or more and achieve the vision of the organization. Effective leaders are able to act as an important variable for the organ. Leadership is the influence of individual activities that seek to achieve the goal of a group or organization. Leadership is a process that involves the group, directing the activities to achieve the same goal. Leadership can not get away from the influence of leaders and important leaders in the formation and direction of the organization.
There are different ways to be a leader and different skills that an effective leader can have. The objective of a leader is to effectively guide others to complete a goal. From Stalin’s autocratic leadership, to Barton’s participatory leadership both were effective in completing their goals. Through strong leadership, society has conquered some of the greatest feats, instilling permanent changes. On the other hand, through weak leaderships, the disappointments and setbacks has scarred society for many years to come. This impact of leadership can produce similar results within organizations. The strong are able to overcome and find success, whereas, the weak struggle and only find failure. A supportive person resembles leadership by taking the initiate to understand what struggles students are facing from calculus to abusive relationships and everything in between. A leader is someone willing to be the best individual they can be so that others may follow in their path.
Everyone in the world today is their own unique person. They have certain characteristics, a certain personality that makes them who they are. While many qualities are very beneficial in life, there are several that are key in determining the type of leader a person is. Some may be authoritative and close-minded while others may be more understanding and compassionate. In order to be a proper and just leader, one must be open to new ideas and be willing to learn from others and use the idea of community to achieve success.
I believe a leader should lead with an open mind and an empathetic demeanor. In order to guide others I have to be ready to listen and learn. A self centered, lazy person cannot and will not put good ideas into action. People will not follow someone who will not listen to what they have to say. A leader speaks words of encouragement and wisdom, and sets goals for himself and others to strive for.
I think that to be a good leader you have to have a good standing point, and you should be a overall good person, with a great personality. Characteristics for being a good leader include; being loyal, and hardworking. Being a leader means that there are people that look up to you. So you should be a great rolemodel for all ages. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a good leader because he had a great thing to be standing for.

How would you define Jan Ryan’s leadership style? Jan Ryan displays a range of leadership styles through the case and to best define Ryan’s style I will use the (Goleman, 2000) framework. This framework identifies 6 different leadership styles that have a direct impact on results. A leader must encourage his team to be the best people they can be, and then show them how to use their strengths to help the team, if he wants to be successful. He must believe that the people on his team can be better and push the members toward that. Sometimes this will involve “tough love”. Success is about the leader pushing people to be the best version of themselves, and if the leader finds that “tough love” is the most effective, then that is what he is going to use. Being a leader is about being for the whole team, but urging each member to being for the team as well.
One of the most important characteristics of a good leader is that they must be actually prepared to lead under any circumstance. To be a successful leader I also agree that one needs to have certain characteristic and skills. A leader needs to be able to simple lead, as you have stated. They need to direct and guide people to fulfill shared goals. Communication is also another huge skill. A leader needs to be able to clearly communicate, build relationships, motivate others, inspire others, and be a role model to create a positive work environment and culture that will accept change and innovation in the company.
