Biographical Criticism of Emily Dickinson
Emily Dickinson was a very notable writer and poet of the 1800's. She wrote many poems secretly in her room and would isolate herself from others. A large number of her works were later discovered when she died, by her sister Lavinia Dickinson. Emily Dickinson then became very well known in American Literature. Her most popular poems were “Hope” is the thing with feathers, Because I couldn’t stop for death, and many more (Dickinson).
In December of 1830, Emily Dickinson was born. She grew up with two other siblings on a farm in Amherst, Massachusetts. Dickinson was a very timid person that didn’t socialize well with others. Instead, she would hide away in her room and write poetry. She was believed to have suffer from severe social anxiety and many other emotional issues. A lot of her poetry was founded by her sister when she died. After her death, she became very well known in American Literature.
Dickinson wrote many famous poems. Her most popular poems were “Hope” is a thing with feathers, Because I couldn’t stop for death, and many more. Some of her writings and poems were inspired by a heartbreak. Scholars found three love letters wrote by her and many other writings. Dickinson had a very unique style of her own in poetry. She would write short poems that didn’t rhyme and would use many metaphors.
In conclusion, Emily Dickinson poems and writings became very well-known in American Literature. Because of her severe anxiety and other issues, she created some very profound poetry. On May of 1886, Dickinson died from kidney disease. Her works was discovered by her sister. Dickinson had created over 1000 poems and is an inspiration to many
