Ernest Hemingway Based on my research, Ernest Miller Hemingway is one of the most famous writers of the 20th century. He is known for both his adventurous life and the intensity of his writing. Ernest Hemingway was one of the few who was not afraid to tell the reader about the war. The reason for that was that he experienced the tragedies of the war himself. He was an ambulance driver volunteer for the American Red Cross during the First World War. Unfortunately, Hemingway was injured in June of 1918 while running a mobile canteen delivering all kinds of items for other soldiers. "Then there was a flash, as when a blast-furnace door is swung open, and a roar that started white and went red," he told is family at a later time. Hemingway was able to carry a wounded soldier despite being injured himself. However, another machine-gun fire struck Hemingway again, leaving him injured for the second time. It was a group of young amateurs, who had made a huge contribution to modern literature in American history. Hemingway made friends with a lot of great writes and novelists of that time, such as Pablo Picasso, James Joyce and etc. One of the most famous achievements of Hemingway was getting the Noble Prize in Literature. He was the fifth person in America to receive such an award. Unfortunately, he was not able to travel to Stockholm to get the prize because of his tremendous injuries sustained in two different plane crashes. Hemingway asked an American ambassador, John Cabot, to accept an award for him and read his speech aloud. The last years of his life, Hemingway was treated for a liver disease, high blood pressure, and a serious depression. Sadly, while living alone in his Ketchum home, Ernest Hemingway committed suicide. Hemingway will always be remembered for the immaculate body of his work and a writing style that influences novelists to this day. He was not only one of the most renowned writers of his time, but he was also a great journalist and a strong military leader.
