WRITTEN SELF-CRITIQUE
Having an Engineering background I struggled more than other students throughout the first part of the Business communication course. However, while practicing with Writing experience in the Cengage learning program I improved my written communication skills and each mistake taught me a unique lesson. During the semester I learned several skills, such as APA style, and the basic structure of a business report or a proposal. Going back through my essays and reviewing the MindTap editorial reports I found a couple of patterns of errors including punctuation, grammatical errors, and spelling. I realized these errors made my writings look unprofessional and confused the reader. This made me realize although I have devoted my time to learning the basics of writing

Subject-verb agreement: Two subject-verb disagreement cases were detected in the writings. For instance in the sentence “We have established an adequate connection with a new supplier who offers a better quality service and meets our specific needs and make sure that this situation does not repeat itself” the plural verb “make” does not agree with the singular subject “the new supplier”. Therefore the correct form of this statement is “We have established an adequate connection with a new supplier who offers a better quality service and meets our specific needs and makes sure that this situation does not repeat itself”.
Prepositions: Proper prepositions establish clear relationships between different parts of the sentence. That is, they indicate whether one noun is in relation with another. One example of this in my paper was “ This was done in prescription to”. The incorrect use of the preposition in this sentence confuses the reader and makes my paper look unprofessional. The proper form will be “ This was done as prescribed by”
