Essay About My Writing Experience

My past experience with writing has shaped the way I write now. I’m not fond of writing because I dislike doing so. If I had to write an essay then I’ll write one because I was required. In my highschool career, my english classes mainly focused on poetry, critical reading, grammar. The classes rarely focused on writing essays, so my writing skill isn't very proficient. I struggled with writing essays due to either time restriction or I wasn’t familiar with the prompt. The results I got back from teachers were mainly to “write neater, write more, or focus on the assignment”, so I didn’t know what to improve on besides those. I used to like writing but it changed, I do think it’s a necessary skill but I don’t like it as much as I used too. In my adolescent years, I wrote journal entries as “warm up”, to begin the class. I had to write about what I did yesterday such as what I ate, learned, and played as my prompt. I enjoyed writing about what I did because it was fun to recollect my memory and write what had happened that day. My teachers had told me writing was important because it can reflect who you are. but I did not understand at that time. My teachers this time were much more strict about grading. In class, the teacher would allow the class to let others read our essay to grade and get criticism. It was embarrassing to let students read my work because I didn’t want to show my work to anyone. But I learned that it was good to let others help you with your mistakes because you do not notice them yourself. I didn't write many essays during middle school because our class spent a lot of time working on a single one. Although I didn’t write many essays, I learned that it was better to work with other students because they can help you with your own
