My degree pathway is Creative and Professional writing and so I have found that the best research method for it is the online databases. This is because it holds an array of different resources which I can use to my advantage whilst writing for my degree.
Creative and Professional Writing (BA) consists of a mixture of creative modules (screenwriting, digifiction and experiments in writing) and professional modules (contextual studies, contemporary English usage and professional practise). Due to its diversity the online databases are the best places to look for texts to gather inspiration for content, writing styles and form; especially as there is such a wide amount of databases. Effectively, I could use a database for almost every module.

“A database”, according to the University of Victoria (Canada), “is a searchable collection of information. In library research, a database is where you find journal articles. Each database contains thousands of articles which you can search for simultaneously and quickly to find articles with higher relevancy than searching in individual journals” (Libanswers.uvic.ca, 2018).
Databases can be effective in producing research because of the ease of finding thousands of relevant journal articles simultaneously, as stated above. However, this can also be overwhelming, especially if you only have a short space of time in order to research for your task. You may find yourself over faced and not know where to begin looking.
