Student as defined in the Merriam-Webster dictionary is “a person who attends a school, college, or university,” or “a person who studies something.” My passion for learning is what makes me more than a student; it makes me an outstanding student. I am inquisitive by nature and question things around me to gain a better understanding of how they work in conjunction with each other. This desire to increase my knowledge is an excellent fit in an ever-changing profession such as nursing. I expect each day throughout my nursing career, will bring new experiences making it a hands-on learning environment. What further makes me stand out from just being a student is my enthusiasm to make a difference in an individual’s life each day. I currently work at an apartment complex, what could essentially be person’s new home; therefore I have to be charismatic. I truly take pleasure in helping someone find a new home, working with them every step of the way and letting them feel comfortable in our community. Growing up in church I have had several opportunities to give back to my community. I’ve had the privilege of being the Emmanuel Baptist Church youth president throughout my high school and freshman year of college. Throughout these years, I was involved in several activities which include food baskets given out to the community in the months of November and December. Additionally, we started up a sock and slipper drive during the month of December to be given to residents at a nursing home.
