Did you know that Finland and the U.S. have many differences in their school system? The elementary school systems in Finland and the U.S. are very different. The school system in Finland is very different than the U.S school system. There are different qualifications in Finland to become a teacher than in the U.S. In my opinion I think that Finland's school system is better the U.S school system.
Finland and USA have very different elementary school systems. Finland has a daycare system for babies and toddlers, the daycare system is a part of their school system. The U.S. has daycares, but they are not a part of our school system. Once you are 6 in Finland you go to kindergarten until you are 7. In the U.S. you have to be 5 years old to be in kindergarten and 6 to be in 1st grade. After kindergarten in the U.S. you go to a 12-year schooling that is broken up in parts of elementary, jr. high or middle school, and high school. For Finland, their compulsory basic starts at age 7 and ends at age 16. On the other hand, the U.S. 12 year schooling period starts at age 6 or 7 and goes to age 14. In the U.S. you have to have good grades, but you don’t have to be the top student in your class. The students address their teachers by their first name, but in the U.S. students address their teachers by their last name. The average salary is $41,000 per year for teachers in Finland. The average salary is $52,000 per year in the U.S. People in Finland becoming a teacher don’t have to go to a different school to get their master’s and bachelor's degrees.
