WWII was a significant event in the U.S. history, and killed many people with new inventions and a numerous amount of weapons. This event was one of the most important factors in Japan’s surrender and America’s victory. In my opinion, I think that the atomic bomb should have been dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, for many reasons. In this paper, I will share how Japan made the U.S. enter the war, how the loss of Americans increased, and how the U.S. was not the only one trying to make the bomb. The first reason that I think that the atomic bomb should have been dropped was that Japan made the U.S. enter the war and start fighting. This tells me that Japan was trying to destroy U.S. warships, planes, and kill American soldiers, so the U.S. would not be able to stop Japan’s plans to expand its power. Another reason I think the atomic bomb should have been dropped is that if not, the loss of Americans would increase immensely. If Japan did not surrender to the atomic bomb the second time, the war would continue, which would make more soldiers all around the world die and cause financial and material damage. This shows me that a lot more American soldiers would get killed and the war would continue to destroy America and its Allies. This war was the most expensive war in the U.S. history, costing $4 trillion dollars in today’s money. By 1945, over 40,000 U.S. soldiers had already died in the fight, and military strategists were worried about the number increasing if they invaded Japan by land. This tells me that it probably was a hard decision for many people in the U.S. on whether to drop the atomic bomb or not.
