Human trafficking: The New Slavery

The American school system teaches that at end of the American Civil War slavery was abolished in America. The truth is slavery still exist to this very day in the United States of America. The only difference is that it now has a different name “human trafficking.” When the term human trafficking is used most people think of young woman as sex slaves, but it is more than just sex that these people are used for. Men, woman, and children are used for organs, farm hands, regular house servants, as well as factor workers. The international labor organization found that there are 20.9 million people that have become victims of human trafficking globally. “Globally, the International Labor Organization estimates that there are 4.5 million people trapped in forced sexual exploitation globally. The International Labor Organization also estimates that there are 14.2 million people trapped in forced labor in industries including agriculture, construction, domestic work and manufacturing. In 2012 a report by the United Nations office on drugs and crime estimated that 76 percent of transactions for sex with underage girls started online. On January 27, 2015 the House of Representatives passed eleven new bills to combat human trafficking. The bills passed mostly focus sex trafficking, and not much to do with hard labor trafficking.
Human trafficking for organs is a little known area of human trafficking. Traffickers force the victims to sell or give up their organs. Traffickers will also lie to the victim by promising them large amounts of money, but then giving them less than promised. Human trafficking for organs has many parts to the racket. Trafficking for organs involves many parties the recruiters, organ banks, transporter, the staff of the hospital, the medical professional, and the buyers. The majority of the time the entire racket is not exposed so, it is not known how wide spread the crime really has
