If I were to have predicted my results before taking this political assessment I would have put myself in right around the same place on the scale, a little bit to the right and a little bit down but not to far from center. Although, before taking this test I would have considered myself more conservative rather than liberation but perhaps that is because I didn't really know what the libertarian party stood for. According to an article by Britannica School called Libertarianism, libertarians “strongly emphasize the individual right to liberty” and “that the scope and powers of government should be constrained so as to allow each individual as much freedom of action as is consistent with a like freedom for everyone else”. However, when protecting order and the people’s freedom, the government should do this in the least invasive way possible. I do not believe that we should have welfare programs to the scale that we do today. It is not the government's job to hand out money to the people especially those who make no effort to change their situation. There are plenty of other ways to receive help like church fundraisers or other philanthropist groups that are much more effective. Also I am a strong believer in inalienable individual rights that the government cannot take away. These rights are given to all people and no one can take them away by any means. The government is put in place to protect these rights without infringing on them while doing so which can be a tricky line to walk. Based on my personal beliefs and comparing them to those of both conservatives and libertarians I can definitely see how I fall more in the libertarian category.
