Medical marijuana is used worldwide to ease pain and to treat lack of appetite, depression, seizures, muscle spasms, nausea, lack of sleep, and period pain. It can also be used to treat different illnesses. Cancer is one of the most controversial illnesses when it comes to using medical marijuana. While medical marijuana cannot cure cancer, it can help dramatically in easing the effects of cancer. For example, when a person has cancer they can lose body mass. It’s like they are wasting away. Medical marijuana can promote appetite, which can lead to weight gain. The THC in marijuana helps increase fat levels instead of lean tissue. Glaucoma is another illness that can have positive benefits from medical marijuana. Glaucoma is when there is increased pressure within a person’s eyeball. This pressure can ultimately cause a gradual loss of sight. Medical marijuana is a short term relief from the pain that this pressure can cause. After 3 or 4 hours the pressure builds back up behind the eye which causes the pain to return. Arthritis is painful inflammation and stiffness of joints and muscles.
