There is four different parts to Medicare. It’s not as simple as applying for Medicare and getting it. You have different criteria for each different part to Medicare. The four parts are as follows Medicare part A, Medicare part B, Medicare part C and Medicare part D. (AARP, January 1st, 2011)
Medicare part A is hospital coverage for the current person that holds the Medicare policy. This is a plan that you have automatically. When you apply you are automatically in Medicare part A. If you are in the hospital for longer than 60 days you will have to pay a larger share of the costs. (AAPR, January 1st, 2011)
Medicare part B is the part that pays for a portion of your doctors’ visits, medical equipment, outpatient procedures, and so on. Part B required you to pay a monthly premium to Medicare, and there is a small deductible that you must reach before Part B
