Obesity in America is a very serious problem affecting many Americans currently and is a problem that continues to grow each year. The fast-food industry, supermarkets, and not being active are some of the factors contributing the spreading problem of obesity and unhealthiness. These factors have caused a dramatic rise in the past ten years. Fast food is a major contributor. Fast foods do no good to your body and they are completely unimportant to the body, but society has made excuses for it. First, it is convenient. Fast-food hours accommodate shifts and offer playrooms for children and give parents a break. Also, the restaurants are everywhere we are; in office buildings, department stores, rest stops, schools, Walmart's, airports, even hospitals, which makes fast food America’s dining-out option. People have no other choice but to be tempted by these restaurants. Foods such as vegetables and meat take time to cook properly, while fast-food hamburgers are usually served within minutes of ordering. Americans are too busy working to make a homemade meal from scratch, so they just grab whatever packaged foods they can find. While that might be true for some people, it does not explain why someone in search of a snack would grab a bag of chips over fruit. Junk food is more advertised than healthier food. Stores make healthy food way more expensive. So some families have no other choice but to go with the other option. People may also choose junk food simply because they have developed a dependence on it. Some eat it because they say it makes them happy. You can even develop an addiction to junk food.
