Obesity is a major crisis among Americans today. This is the age of convenience and most people are making terrible choices when it comes to the food that goes into the body. During a busy day, sometimes it can be so easy to grab a quick snack and go. Well those quick snacks are usually fast food and processed meals that come from store shelves and coolers. A large majority of the mass production of food that is being made has little to no nutritional value. The ingredients are killing Americans as shown in many studies. So many factors play into the growing rise of obesity. Lack of daily exercise, food choices, and poverty are just a few issues that plague the people who suffer from obesity. Obesity can lead to cardiovascular problems, sleep apnea, and in some fatal cases death. We must turn this epidemic around and become a healthier America.

The government has the power to control the whole issue of obesity. The controversy around the food regulations are alarming. There have been cases of misuse of additives. Life stock is given these additives to fatten them up for faster growth. This allows mass production of the meat to be sold a rapid rate. Vegetables are also being sprayed with pesticides and growth hormones to produce more so the sales can be met. These items are then purchased, and the chemicals are now being put into the body of Americans. Little girls and boys are starting to develop quicker because of the side effects of the food being consumed. Grass fed life stock and organic fruits and vegetables are available but like stated before the price of the healthier choice is less appealing to the lower income family.
