The knowledge I gained from this research on the discourse community of the LEAD program has been both informative as well as thought provoking. This is because I learned so many things that I did not originally know about the program until I did all of this research on the program. For example, I learned the requirements that we have to do in the second year of the program where as before I did not know this. Another thing that I learned about the LEAD program was that there was a choice that you have on whether getting the leadership studies certificate or minor in the program. Doing all of this research about the program made me realize all of the things that we learn and do in the LEAD program. I learned how to help people with strengthen their papers to make their papers the best that it can be. Also this semester I have learned how to take peer reviewers comments and incorporate their suggestions in my paper. For example, in task 1 the rough draft my peer reviewer commented on including examples of what an impact event was. So originally my paper stated “We are required to go to two Lead events (events hosted by LEAD), two impact events (events hosted by different organizations on campus)…” I took her suggestion by adding another sentence that says “An example of a LEAD event would be a LEAD Scholar hosting an event to pack food bags for the homeless. Also an example of impact event would be attending an event hosted by career services.” This comment from the peer review helped me improve my paper by helping me think critically about my research. Overall this semester on every task I feel that I made each draft of each paper stronger by the comments not only from peer reviewers but also from my professors comments as
