The science of ultrasound scans In this essay I will be discussing whether the use of communications technologies on a daily basis encourage us to interact with complex ideas more deeply and thus leading us to a better understanding of science. No openings or cuts need to be made to the skin. It is not expensive to get an ultrasound scan because it is a quick procedure. There are no harmful effects that have yet been detected. Ultrasound procedures are good for examining soft tissue such as the eye, heart, or blood vessels. If a problem concerning the fetus is detected then the parents can prepare emotionally and practically. Ultrasounds can be absorbed into the bone to accelerate fracture healing. The disadvantages of using ultrasound scans are the waves are not strong enough to pass through bone. The ultrasound scans cannot be used to examine area that contain gas e.g. lungs digestive system. The picture that an ultrasound scan produces does not give as much detail as that of an X-ray. It has not yet been proven that long term exposure to the ultrasound waves is harmful or not.
