After researching three different guiding companies, I have accumulated a great sum of data for all. The three said companies are Alpine Ascents, Adventure Consultants, and Mountain Madness. Each company has set background history, costs, and even requirements for their potential climbers to recognize. All of which are shown through the rhetorical appeals such as ethos, logos, and pathos.
Logos, Pathos, and Ethos are these ways to persuade readers and audiences. The persuasive arguments are very important skill in writing; the persuasive can be explained audiences to convince about the projects or topics. First, logos also has other name the appeal to reason or logic; logos means to persuade readers or audiences by using these witnesses or reasons. Also, logos is critical when asking listeners to reach these conclusions regarding complicated issues. Logos needs to take a specific action; it is very important to gain agreement in the persuasive argument.
Banks expanded her argument with a strong pathos by providing coherent details on the scenarios she mentioned of police shootings, which may lead to feelings of disturbance, trauma, and beyond belief for the ones reading. Perhaps, the extensive detail she gave when she was describing the scene at Minnesota, "a police officer held the pair at gunpoint and her 4-year-old daughter watched from the back seat." (Banks) The author portrays the officer as a selfish, cold-hearted man because, regardless of the situation, a child should never be traumatized with such disturbing image as is witnessing a gun pointed at their parents. Pathos was used a long way, as Banks intended the audience to agree that officers lack consideration of others.

Often times in un-scholarly writing, writers will use Aristotle’s ways or persuasion. He found the origins of persuasion and named them ethos, logos, and pathos. When an author uses ethos, they are trying to establish their credibility. This helps the reader trust what the author is saying. Logos is the appeal to logic.
I will admit, this DQ question had me confused for quite some time before I started to grasp the basic concept of the three persuasive appeals of “Logos, Pathos, and Ethos”. I believe my problem was that I was over thinking it, which caused additional frustration and time to complete the assignment. In any event, here is my take of the three persuasive appeals: Ethos Ethos is one of the methods described by Aristotle to validate the author's creditability, charisma, and character. This is an important concept to use to verify that the material is written by a professional in a specifically designated field of their choice.
One central idea from the interview is that everyone should be given an opportunity to have a quality education regardless of their circumstances. The maximum security prisoners had the greatest need for an education, but they had the least available to them. Ethos, Pathos and Logos, are all ways of persuading someone, playing on different tactics. Several years after the Cold War started, in 1961, President John F. Kennedy, who had only been inaugurated a couple months before, gave a speech in Houston Texas, at the Rice University, in front of a big audience, about the “Race to Space”. In this speech the president whether intentionally or not included all three forms of persuasion. The president wanted to convince the people that being the first country in space, would mean a great deal for them, that if they were the first ones out in space, the peace would be kept, and that space would not be used as a weapon, but for scientific knowledge only.
The pathos and ethos of cultures is often discernable in literary narratives as expressions of the sentiment of approval or disapproval. Thus, the impact of literary narratives on cultures cannot be understated; the arts do impact and influence culture in both positive and negative ways. This is not a new phenomenon and can be observed in cultures as early as 6 Century B.C. and can be traced throughout human history. An example of this can be seen in Homer’s Odyssey, in which there are certain characters within the narrative that portray what is known as “arete.” Arete is viewed as a desirable character trait which some define as the display of perseverance, quick-wittedness, prowess, valor, etc.
Ethos is the ethical appeal in communication. Katy Perry demonstrates this on her Twitter page when she made a post saying, “Happy #PRIDE month. I see you and I love you.” This is her way of showing her support of an ethical standpoint. Katy is showing an intended sign of respect for the LGBT community.

Five Cognate Strategies from the Three Rhetorical Elements I have chosen five of the nine cognate strategies to dissect and represent in this assignment. In my consideration of the available topics, I strove to include cognate strategies from each of the rhetorical elements (logos, ethos, and pathos). My emphasis strongly leans toward logos (logic), thus all three logos-related cognate strategies are represented here (clarity, conciseness, arrangement), followed by an ethos(ethics)-related cognate strategy (reference) and a pathos(emotional appeal)-related cognate strategy (tone). First Cognate Strategy: Clarity Clarity, as a cognate strategy, is one of the three logos (logic) strategies which refers to clear and simple phrasing to foster understanding in the reader.
