Evolution Vs Natural Selection Essay

Evolution
The concept of evolution and natural selection has created intense debates in various social settings due to its perceived controversial approaches to the source of life. In its definition, the process is simply encompassed by descent of life forms through modifications and gene alterations in order to adjust to situational conditions. There are four conditions that must be fulfilled for natural selection to occur, the first condition is that more organisms must be born than can survive, triggering the necessary mechanisms for survival enhancement in their respective habitats.
Other conditions include the ability of the organisms to vary their traits even within their individual species. Variations in the fundamental characteristics of individual organisms provide competitive abilities as compared to their counterparts. In addition, the organisms must be able to transmit certain character, traits, and gene components from parents to their offspring through inheritance. Finally, there must be variations in individual characters within species since the fundamental element for natural selection to occur is fitness variations in accordance to the dominant situational …show more content…

Among the evidence is the observation that organisms produced more offspring to replace themselves, resulting in increased population sizes, and In spite of their overproduction, the resultant population sizes often remained the same. This disparity was supported by Darwin (2009); here he explains how competition for food, space and water ‘let the strongest live and the weakest die’. Using the three simple observations, the theory of evolution through natural selection was
