Leadership is essentially guiding and managing a team of people within an organization. It is setting a good example for other employees and setting up positive values. However, many people would define it differently and therefore it is imperative to have a leader philosophy (Kouzes & Posner, 2017). Knowing your individual values and knowing what you can do to better your team and their environment is one key factor of being an effective leader. A true leader is always willing to listen and learn about new ideas and how their team feels about the values. It is vital for a leader to receive feedback from their team. This allows the leader an opportunity to know where they can improve and fix any small issues before they turn into significant problems. When understanding leadership, it involves both knowing and comprehending the definition and using instincts. A leader does not handle every aspect by the book but also uses real-world experiences to handle certain situations. Understanding the culture and environment that your team works in and appreciating employee diversity are crucial to leadership style (Caramela, 2017). Management is the controlling of people and processes and the direction of a group of people. Management involves doing almost everything by the book, without considering it from a realistic perspective. A good manager, should always consider the factors of leadership because management and leadership go hand in hand. Management ensures that the task at hand is done accurately, but leadership comes in when it time to understand problems and find solutions, without causing tension within the team
